~ My Bead Soup Blog Party 6 Reveal ~

Wow!
What a fun and wonderful learning experience for me!

My partner for this party is Debbie Price from

When I hurredly opened the package that came
in the mail, I was so excited and a little nervous, as I
havent branched away much from my "norm".
I usually always work with dark metals,
hand blackened brass etc, so when I saw the
light, shiny *bling* I was excited to work with something new!

This is the Soup Ingredients and lovely card that I received from Debbie:

And a close up of each yummy piece:    :)

I absolutely love that clasp,
how beautifully vintage, a large crystal jewel!

The heart attached to the key with the chain there was actually a
brooch pin set. I wish I had thought of taking a photo of the back
of each one before I removed the pins and smoothed them down
but that's okay. I also removed the chain.

In my finished piece I used the two focals (heart & key),
the gorgeous vintage silver clawed jewel clasp,
the large silver filigree ball with the row of sparkling jewels around it,
the chain of jewels,
two of the small silver bejeweled spacer beads
and 4 of the charcoal faceted glass beads.

I envisioned the finished necklace after only a few minutes
of looking through my own stash and immediately knew
that I wanted to use silk ribbon in a bright color,
so I searched for the perfect color - fuchsia it was!
I turned a bright silk shirt that was probably quite fashionable
in the early '90's in to some gorgeous silk ribbon that is much
more fashionable now!!

Some silver wire and a tassle dangling from the heart finished
it of perfectly.

I LOVE IT!!!

I hope you do too!

My Bed Soup ingredients arrived!!

WOW!!!

I'm so stoked!!!
My Bead Soup ingredients have finally
arrived! It was a long trip from the UK to Canada.
I was starting to get a bit worried but figured,
I moved in to a new house 2 days ago
so I would'nt be able to touch them yet anyways.

What a pretty card she sent as well!
She did a great job at going out of my element,
Since I havent dove very far in to jewelry design
quite yet I havent worked with a lot, I have yet to make
a necklace that isnt hand blackened brass.

These ingredients are so yummy looking,
I have an idea or two swirling about but I'm
going to let them & my brain simmer a bit before I
decide exactly what I'm going to do.

My partner is Debbie Price and her

Bead Soup! - What I sent my partner

I am so stoked about the

My partner, the lovely Debbie Price of
has received the yummy Bead Soup that
I sent her. I am oh so excited to see what she does
with it!! I chose to go with earthy tones, I
dont have much of a stash so I shopped for the
soup just for her. These beads spoke to me
and wanted to make a new life on the other
side of the world in the UK!!

This is what I sent her:

I feel bad because just a couple of days ago
I realized that the grey clover bead didnt make it in
with the rest! I am moving to a new home
this weekend and when I lifted up my drawer unit
it was hiding underneath - I guess he was afraid to fly!!

I am nervous because I still havent received my soup...
Not that I could play with it yet anyhow - everything
is packed up and ready to move!
I really do hope it comes Friday, then
I wont have to worry about it all weekend!!

I'm so excited to move - and have a studio double
the size! With its own sliding doors to the yard :)
I'm going to be more organized at the new place - I swear...

Anyways, I hope you all love the ingredients
that I chose for Debbie's Soup, I will post photos
of mine as soon as the ingredients arrive!

~~*Sending inspirational creative vibes to all my fellow Soupers*~~

wait and not give recipients their gifts but it's oh so
awesome when they finally get to open them!!

unbearable excitement about the whole

Deb, I really hope that she loves them, after
this is over and when I have the extra time, I would
LOVE to work with all that I sent her.

shopping and bought her exactly what I would have
chosen to work with myself.

Breaking my mold - and loving it!

With Bead Soup coming up soon
and the fact that I've mostly stayed within
a similar style for the past 6 months or so
Ive decided to break free of my norm
and play with some other styles.

Ive always had a vision for what I wanted to
do and create and until now (because of health issues
mixed in with personal finance issues) I havent been
able to play and create as I really wanted to.
I'm always attracted to the "different" & unique.

After being so incredibly inspired
by such groups as Bead Soup Cafe
and Polymer Clay Collective on top of not
having to worry about putting every penny
towards food and rent and still coming out behind,
I feel like I'm exploding with creativity - because I can.
I'm so excited to say that Ive gone and
bought myself some polymer clay to play with
and am going to finally be getting my metal smithing
tools and materials and so happy to be on the road
that I've been wanting to be on for so long.

I've broken from my mold and while I'm waiting
for some of my goodies to come in the mail,
I thought I would create something using things
that I had on handbut nothing that I usually
would use.

I LOVE fresh water pearls and anything mother
of pearl at all. Especially buttons!
(Anyone that knows me knows I have quite the
button collection! Check out this amazing Mother
of Pearl button photo frame I made, there are a couple more
in that album as well.

I had all of my beauties in front of me and remembering
how I had instantly fell in love with a
Staci Louise Originals necklace, I was instantly
inspired.

This is the beauty that I created.
I.LOVE.IT

I hope you love it too!

I wont be putting this up in the shop, if I can part
with it, it will be for purchase at the Mission Fest
booth that I will be having on August 11th.

Bead Soup Blog Partay!! A challenge awaits....

I'm all signed up for the
Bead Soup Blog Party and am super stoked about it!
Usually this party is done by lottery but this
time anyone is welcome to sign up, making
it a pretty large event!!
Sign ups are now over and the list is up -
a whopping 397 talented artists have signed
up for this super fun swap!
And 4 of them are Danas!! :)

If you dont know how it works, it goes like this:
Lori, from the blog Pretty Things will pair me up with
someone. I'll go look through
my partner's blog, shop and/or facebook
to have a look at what type of jewelry style that she creates.
From that knowledge, I will try to challenge my partner by
sending her a bead soup of a completely different
style than her usual creations.
She will do the same for me, it's meant to challenge
each other to use different styles and techniques than
we are used to.

The bead soup needs to consist of:
A focal
Coordinating spacers or beads
and a special clasp that cant just be a plain lobster claw.

I'm super stoked! I have a couple of bead soups here
that Ive put together for my partner and depending
on what style she is, she may get one or the other,
or maybe even a mixture - we'll see!
