A couples of months ago, a lovely lady I know asked if I could make her a
custom pillowof her dog that had recently passed away.
She had a cute little Boston Terrier named Rocky.
I had met him a few
times and he was so happy and active! Oh how I miss having a dog!
She gave me a picture of him to use for inspiration:
Oh that picture made me howl when I saw it for the first time! Hehe!
I've only had large dogs myself, Laddie the massive and
oh~so~gentle Doberman X German Shepard and
Shadow the wonderful German Shepard X Rhodesian Ridgeback.
They really do become a part of the family and its so sad to see them go.
Alan (my husband)and I have been thinking about getting a dog, he's never had one growing up
and I dont think its something that one should go without having in their lifetime!
Anywho, back to the pillows... this is the first Rocky pillow I had made for her:
Hahaha! Oh I love it!
I just love how it turned out! It does actually say "ROCKY" above his head
but I chose this photo so you can see the details.
She then recently asked me to do the same pillow again but with a
red background:
In this one you can see his name above :)
Oh I love it, she came and picked it up about an hour ago
and of course just loved it!
I love making special things for people, I love to see the smiles on their faces.
It's so special to me.
Enjoy!
I love this - you do such great work. I featured you on my site.

DeleteThat's so sweet! :) These were both fun to do, I did a Lhasa Apso a while back as well but unfortunately my computer ate my photos of him :( The customer has a few of the photos I took so when I talk to her again I will have to get those off of her.
You're brave! I would have had no idea how to tackle this...great pillow. Jan
ReplyDeleteI had no idea at first!
DeleteThank you for the sweet compliment :)
What a great memorial idea! You have done n amazing job of it too! Very impressed!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIm surprised myself how they turned out! :)
That is very sad about her dog but very sweet about the pillow - you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteMy pets have always been dogs. What a cool idea! I love the memorial pillow! Great job. Thanks for adding it to Creative Monday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great memorial, Im sure she will love it, and she can hug her baby again. When we lose a pet it is the same as losing a family member. I had a Golden Retriever he had to be put down at 14, it took me 6 years before I could get another dog. My mother passed ausswnly in January and now in addition to my 3 pugs I have her 2 pugs and a peek a pom. I promised her I would take care of her babies and a month to the day of Mom's death her little Pebbles was diagnosed with a horrible dabilitating disease that is slowly killing her. At this point we are treating her with medication and she is stable.
ReplyDeleteIm sure she will treasure your great work.
Nan
Aw sorry to hear about Pebbles!
DeleteIts so sad when that happens! I dont have any dogs right now, my two are long gone but I have a 21 year old cat!! Being so old she does worry me a lot but shes doing well for her age I think.
They sure are just a part of the family arent they?!
This is just beautiful!
