Happy Spring!
Those of you that know me in person, know that I absolutely LOVE buttons!
I love them so much that in the past I have happily taken buttons as a partial payment for local orders, hehe!
I am always on the hunt for new ways that I can use them, the possibilities are endless!
My favorite button art that I have been doing a lot of lately,
has been button mosaic art photo frames & mirrors.
They really are so relaxing to create and a lot of thought goes in to
the actual placement of each piece.
This is a great craft to do with an absolutely beautiful outcome
everytime - that is if you have enough buttons!
Here are a few I have done lately.....
I especially love the super colorful ones, it reminds me that spring is here, even though I cant see it outside!!
I love that in the white/creme one above, there are quite a few hand blackened brass creatures and little things hiding about within the frame.
I have also done a few mixed media frames that are quite different but I'll leave this post about buttons!
~**....Now for my question to you all....**~
I am looking for a good place to get buttons! I'm reaching out to my fellow crafters to see if any of you know where to get buttons at a decent price.
Don't say my local thrift store.... they are the most expensive for buttons
I have EVER come across!
They are charging between $1.50 to $7.00 for 3-6 buttons!!
My local fabric store is a lot cheaper.
Possibly one of you may know of a place online where you have ordered from before? I like to have feedback before I purchase online.
I hope you enjoy my creations!
Love these!!! My 2nd oldest daughter made me a button book when she was little...something I treasure! Liked you on FB and am now following your bolf! Hope you'll follow me back at http://littleshackonthehill.blogspot.com/

I bought a massive amount today.... I couldnt resist!
These are just gorgeous - I just LOVE that rainbow one!! The one thing I do not keep a stash of is buttons. Probably due to my distaste of sewing buttonholes, LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment at Happy Hour Projects. My weekend link party will be open within the hour, I hope you come back and link up!! :)

I LOVE these!! They look so amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful! I wish I knew where to tell you to get buttons, but I don't. I love the colorful ones but that purple one is so eyecatching! Following you via GFC and looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you :)
DeleteI found a bunch of medium sized bags full for a decent price at a dollar store out of town today.... I bought them out!
They were makeup bag sized full of 1 color of all different sizes and shades, 1 bag of each color. Oh man I cant wait to get home from work to organize them!!
They were only $2 a bag - its usually $2 for 5 single buttons around here so I couldnt resist!
I'm following you as well, thanks for the nice words!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteHello. I'm a new follower. The frames look awesome. I have lots of buttons and frames sitting in a cupboard so I will definitely give this a go :)
ReplyDeleteYou totally should! Super relaxing and fun. They always look good too!
DeleteI'm a new follower to you as well :D
These are darling. What kind of glue do you use?
ReplyDeleteJan
I use a high grade hot glue gun glue from Micheals and I slightly sand each and every one on the back side with 120 grit sandpaper so that the glue will work even better.
DeleteI try not to use the toxic types if I can help it and since these have stayed in tact for me throughout the years (not these very ones) as long as you are gentle with them they should stay in tact for anyone else as well!
I'm the newest follower of your wonderful blog! I would be so grateful if you could follow me back!

I like the colors of your blog :)
Awesome! I did some stuff like this at a Guide event but NEVER thought of using buttons. Thank you. Thank you. thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth!
DeleteI was in Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders back in the day!
I havent thought of it for so long and you brought back a flood of good memories!
I'm glad you like it, they are fun to do and they pretty much ALWAYS end up looking great! As long as you have a lot of buttons!!!
I do use a glue gun, but I recommend a quick swipe to the back of each button with a large grit sandpaper to give the back of the buttons a lil bit of texture first so that they dont fall off, the glue sticks much better to it that way.
So beautiful! I love buttons too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up @ Creatively Living!

I just love what you've made with all those buttons!
ReplyDeleteThese frames are awesome. I love that first colourful rainbow frame the best but the others are gorgeous as well. I wish I had as many buttons as this. I agree about the thrift store charging too much - ours does as well.
